What's Actually Inside Your Lip Ganache (And Why It Matters)

What actually goes into a lip ganache -- and why each ingredient earns its place.

When we set out to create the Sweet Treat collection, we had one non-negotiable: every single ingredient had to do something. No fillers. No "it looks good on the label." If it is in the tube, it is there for a reason.

Here is what is inside -- and what each ingredient brings to your lips.

The Base: Why It Glides Like That

The first thing you notice about a lip ganache is the texture. It is not waxy, not sticky, not heavy. It melts on contact and then just... stays. That feeling comes from the base formula:

Ethylhexyl Palmitate is a lightweight emollient derived from palm oil. It gives the ganache its signature slip -- that effortless, creamy glide that feels like you are applying something expensive (because you are). It softens without clogging, and it is what makes the formula feel like a second skin rather than a coat of paint.

Octyldodecanol is a fatty alcohol that acts as a texture enhancer. It keeps everything smooth and spreadable, and helps the other ingredients absorb into the lips rather than just sitting on top.

Polyisobutene is the reason the ganache does not feather or bleed. It creates a flexible, breathable film that holds everything in place while still feeling comfortable. Think of it as an invisible frame for the colour.

The Butters: Deep, Real Moisture

This is where the lip care part of the formula lives.

Shea Butter (Butyrospermum Parkii Oil) is rich in fatty acids and vitamins A, E, and F. It does not just moisturise the surface of your lips -- it penetrates and softens from within. Shea butter has been used for centuries in West African skincare for a reason: it works. It is especially good for dry, cracked lips that need repair, not just a temporary coat of moisture.

Cocoa Seed Butter (Theobroma Cacao) creates a protective barrier that locks moisture in. It is packed with natural antioxidants -- polyphenols that help shield your lips from environmental stress. And yes, it contributes to that faint, warm, chocolatey undertone in the formula. The scent is not an accident.

The Oils: Nourishment That Goes Deep

Jojoba Seed Oil (Simmondsia Chinensis) is unique because its molecular structure closely mimics the natural oils your skin already produces. Your lips recognise it. Instead of sitting on the surface, jojoba oil is absorbed quickly and deeply, delivering moisture where it actually matters. It is also naturally rich in vitamin E, zinc, and B-complex vitamins.

Squalane is one of the most talked-about ingredients in modern skincare -- and for good reason. It is a stable, plant-derived hydrocarbon that mimics a compound your skin naturally produces. Squalane is an exceptional moisturiser: lightweight, non-greasy, and compatible with virtually all skin types. It creates a protective layer that prevents moisture loss without feeling heavy. Your lips stay hydrated for hours, not minutes.

The Actives: Where Lip Care Meets Science

Hyaluronic Acid can hold up to 1,000 times its weight in water. In a lip product, it draws moisture from the environment and binds it to your lips, creating that plump, cushioned feeling. The difference between a lip product with hyaluronic acid and one without is the difference between lips that look alive and lips that look coated.

Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1 is a peptide -- a small chain of amino acids that signals to your skin. Specifically, it is a collagen fragment. When your skin detects this peptide, it interprets it as a signal to produce fresh collagen. Over time, consistent use supports the natural structure and texture of your lips. This is not a filler. It is not an instant plumper. It is your lips, getting quietly stronger with every application.

Vitamin E (Tocopherol) is a powerful antioxidant that protects the delicate skin on your lips from free radical damage -- the kind caused by UV exposure, pollution, and daily wear. It also helps the other oils in the formula stay stable and effective for longer. Vitamin E is the ingredient that makes sure everything else keeps working.

The Colour: Clean + Vivid

Mica provides that subtle luminous finish -- a soft, light-catching shimmer that looks like your lips are naturally radiant. The tint pigments vary by shade (which is why you will see "+/- may contain" on the label), but each one is selected for vibrancy and safety. No harsh dyes. Just colour that looks good and stays put.

What Is NOT Inside

No beeswax. No lanolin. No carmine. No animal-derived ingredients of any kind.

The entire Sweet Treat formula is 100% vegan, cruelty-free, and classified as clean beauty. The fragrance is food-grade -- safe for lip application and scented to match each dessert namesake. When we say Raspberry Coulis smells like raspberry coulis, we mean it.

The Philosophy

Most lip products ask you to choose: colour or care. Fun or function. We think that is a false choice.

Every ingredient in the Sweet Treat lip ganache serves double duty. The base that gives you that perfect glide is also softening your lips. The butters that nourish are also protecting. The peptide that supports collagen is working silently every time you reapply.

You are not just putting on colour. You are taking care of your lips while looking incredible. That is the whole point.

The Sweet Treat collection launches March 15, 2026. Five flavours. Every one of them worth it.
